The Nano & Quantum Optics group sustains a vivid and well established cooperation with the Microoptics group within the institute, specifically with the aim of the technological realization of nano-optical systems and materials. The group is further cooperating with many institutions of the Physical-Astronomical Faculty at the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena in context of research projects. Strategic collaborations that go far beyond the project work are particularly strong with the Institute of Condensed Matter Theory and Solid State Optics, and the Institute of Optics and Quantum Electronics. Cooperative relations within the University exist in particular to the department of Organic and Macromolecular Chemistry of the Faculty of Chemistry and Geoscience. Moreover, there are many external national partners in science and industry. Of special importance are regional co-operations with the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering (IOF) and the Institute of Photonic Technology Jena (IPHT). On an international basis, strong scientific links exist with the Australian National University in Canberra.
