"Photonik Akademie" has started

At the "Photonik Akademie", which takes place for the second time, 36 students can inform about the theme "Solutions with light - optical systems engineering in industry and production" at and around the "optics location" Jena. The organizers are the Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering IOF as the host this year.

A specialty of this year's Photonics Academy is the participation of the two 17-year-old Jana Huisman and Lars Berscheid. Both have taken very young their A-level and are now studying in the 5th and 3rd semesters physics.

From the 18th to 22nd March, the students learn to know intensively about the topic in practical workshops, lectures, field trips (including to Zeiss and Jenoptik) and meetings with representatives of the photonics. As one highlight, the participants will calculate a complex optical system, manufacture as well as gauge telescopes that can be taken at home under the direction of Prof. Herbert Gross. Aim is to get to know the optical system technology by "Do-It-Yourself".
